20 Week Pregnancy Update!

I am back for another pregnancy update, and it's been a while. But previously when I announced my pregnancy, I mentioned that I probably wouldn't be posting updates frequently unless something significant happened.

If I remember correctly, last time I posted an update I was only 9 weeks pregnant.

Currently, I am 20 weeks pregnant! So a lot of exciting things have happened.

Since my last update, I had my OBGYN appointment and they confirmed that I had to start a weekly injection called "Makena." Makena is used to prevent preterm labor in women who have given birth before 37 weeks.

Now before I continue more on that topic, if you are new to my blog or don't follow me on social media, you probably don't know anything about my first pregnancy. I will link two posts about my first son (Mason) below...

Meet my son Mason!
NICU journey with my son

Another reason my doctor is taking precautions and trying to prevent another preterm labor, is because there was no determined cause of my son being born prematurely. My doctor at the time took my placenta and had tests run on it to try and see why I went into preterm labor, but there was nothing wrong with my placenta either.

So because of that, I will be going to my doctors office once a week to get an injection. But other then that, my doctor has no other concerns right now with my pregnancy.

While I was at my appointment, my doctor scheduled my anatomy scan which I had this past Thursday. And believe it or not, it was my first ultrasound for this pregnancy.

We were so excited to find out baby's gender, and make sure baby was healthy and everything was running smoothly. Turns out, baby is actually measuring 5 days ahead!! Which is amazing. But my doctor most likely will not change my June 4th due date because baby isn't measuring significantly bigger then gestational age.

Now....for one of the most exiting things about pregnancy, the gender!!

As you can see in the first photo, baby was looking right at the camera for us!

IT'S A BOY!!! 👣
I have always wanted a baby girl, at least one. But I couldn't be happier about having another little boy. The bond I have with Mason is amazing, and I can't wait to have the same thing with baby boy #2. I am even more excited for mason to be a big brother, and have a life long best friend.

Do we have a name??
Of course as soon as we found out it was a boy, I was looking up names. We haven't chosen one yet, but I did find one that we might consider if it grows on us because it is such a different name. The name is "Zander" or "Xander" it could be spelled either way.

The name stood out to me mostly because Mason's middle name is "Alexander" and I felt like it just connected them even more.

Some symptoms I've been having are not too bad. My morning sickness is long gone...(knock on wood) but I have been super emotional about EVERYTHING.

So I'm sure it's fun for my boyfriend to watch and thank god that I am not this crazy all of the time.

One symptom that did follow me out of the first trimester and into the second is being exhausted all of the time. I think it is actually worse to be honest, because after we put our son to bed at aroun 7-8PM I lay on the sofa to watch TV and I end up falling asleep. Then, my boyfriend has to fight me off of the sofa into bed when he goes to bed.

Another symptom, I guess you could call it..I've been having a lot of anxiety. I haven't been able to pinpoint why I am getting it either because it just happens randomly so it's a little bit difficult.

But, on the plus side, I have found that crocheting actually gets rid of my anxiety. If I crochet atleast once a day I don't have anxiety. And if I feel like I am getting anxious, I will crochet something and it will calm me down.

I actually tried crocheting Mason a blanket when I was pregnant with him and I failed so badly. Gladly, I have nailed it this time and have made baby boy #2 a blanket, 2 pairs of booties, and two hats so far! I just ordered a bunch of turquoise yarn also to make Mason and his baby brother matching blankets. Which I am super excited about because it's my favorite color!

  1. Awwww! Congrats! Boys are the best, but don't tell my daughter I said that. (The teenage years with girl is miserable, I promise. LOL)

Love the name Zander/Xander. So cute! I'll bet Mason is really excited he's going to have a baby brother.

Sending you 40 week pregnancy vibes!

  2. Congratulations on little boy #2. You will love seeing your two little men grow up together.

  3. Congratulations on your new baby! So sorry you have to get progesterone shots during your pregnancy. Those are annoying (I had them with my last two pregnancies). Hopefully your newest little one will stay put until at least 37 weeks so you can have a much better hospital stay. Thanks so much for joining us at the #happynowlinkup!
