My Hair Care Favorites (Affordable)

I created a poll on twitter asking you guys what you wanted to see next, and the winner was my hair care favorites. So I am going to share with you the products I use all the time, recently discovered that I love already, and what I use them for!

First, is a product I have been using for about three years now. I re-purchase it every time I am almost out. Meet, the Fantasia Frizz Buster...

I am not exaggerating when I say that I refuse to straighten my hair without this product. It keeps my hair from frizzing and becoming an afro while I straighten my hair because I do have wavy/curly hair. Also, it makes my hair so smooth and silky...I will NEVER give this product up. When using this product, you only need a little tiny drop for each section of hair you are going to straighten. I find it works best if you section out your hair like you normally would, and apply right before you are going to straighten each strand. I have tested it another way, which was applying it on all of my hair at one time, and it didn't work as well as the other way. I recommend this product to anyone struggling with frizzy dry hair that is hard to straighten!

Next, is coconut oil!...

I only apply this once in a while when my hair is extremely frizzy when I am trying to curl my hair without a curling iron. I do have wavy/curly hair so I use a diffuser and a couple other products to enhance my curls. When I notice that my hair is frizzy right after washing it, I apply this all over my hair, while getting the least amount as possible on my roots because that will weigh my hair down and make it flat.

My next favorite product is by "Not your mothers" and it is a hair lifter...

This is a sample size bottle by the way, that is why it's so tiny. The actual size bottles are about the size of a mousse bottle. I use this product normally after using coconut oil to give my hair a little bit more volume in the middle and bottom of my hair when I am curling it. It makes my hair pretty soft and nice while still holding the shape. It does not get stiff or anything like a hairspray, its more like a liquid mousse I guess. The bottle does say for thin hair, and my hair is not even close to being thin. I have very thick heavy hair, and it works amazingly!

After using the coconut oil, and hair lifter...I like to go in with a little bit of Suave extra hold shaping mousse if my hair is still not the way I want it to be before diffusing my hair....

Now, when I use too much of this product it definitely weighs my hair down a little bit. So, I like to start with a small amount and add more if needed. I don't use it all the time because sometimes on good hair days I don't need it. I also find that if I end up not using the mousse and just use coconut oil along with the "Not your mothers" product above, I can go longer without washing my hair. Since I have a very dry scalp, my head gets very itchy if I use hairspray or mousse and I can only last two days without washing my hair. Ideally, I like to wash my hair every 3-4 days.

When I necessarily need hairspray...I like to use Aussie's sprunch hairspray..

Like I said before, I don't like to use hairspray all the time. I only use it when I have a "hair emergency" and my hair is not cooperating. But this hairspray is my favorite, it smells amazing and keeps my hair in place.

And, my last hair care favorite is....

This new combination from Tresemme, Beauty-full volume reverse wash. I recieved this for free from influenster, and I haven't put it down ever since. Well, technically I have...but you get the point. I can see and feel the difference in my hair since using this product. My hair is so much more manageable, and definitely gives my hair more volume then I haven't had for years.

That wraps up my hair care favorites! As you can see, I dont use very many products on my hair. Once I found these products in this post, it has been easier and pleasurable to do my hair everyday. If you have any questions about the products listed above, or any questions in general leave them in the comments!

Bad Review of Somasix Magnetic Letters and Numbers

So, I just want to start out by saying that I gave these magnets a fair chance when I received them for $2 instead of full retail price, in exchange for my honest review. I thought it would be a perfect thing to keep my son away from the stove while I am making dinner, but it turns out..it could have injured him if I wasn't as aware of what he was doing while playing with them.

NOTE**When I received the product, it was in great condition, the box was not destroyed either.

I was so exited to receive this product, so as soon as it arrived, I opened the box and put all the letters on my fridge for my son. He had just turned 1, so he was old enough to play with them under supervision. As I was doing the dishes, he was sitting on the floor playing with them one minute.

Next thing I know, I looked over and noticed he had something in his mouth. So I went and checked...it was the little square magnet off of the letters!! Since I didn't know exactly how the magnet came off, I was interested.

So I sat there with him playing with the letters, and all he had to do was basically pull the magnet out from the back of the letters, and it came off. I will remind you again, he was only 1 years old...and it is not acceptable to have the magnets come off that easily. He could have choked very badly if I didn't notice he had a magnet in his mouth.

I was not expecting to make a bad review of this product, because the quality of the magnets definitely looked very durable. But it turns out, they were not. Even though I did receive this product at a heavy discount, I would not purchase these ever again, or recommend them to anyone.

I hope you guys enjoyed this honest review, and if you have any questions regarding this, please leave a comment below!

Amazing No Bean Chili Recipe

Chili without beans? Yes, you can pull it off and it tastes just as amazing.

I used to only eat the ground beef out of my chili, because I hate beans but I love the chili flavor. So I decided to attempt to make chili without the beans, and I nailed it!

I did look up some recipes for no bean chili, but I decided to basically go for it myself. This recipe is very simple, and there is hardly any prep time!

                                 www.includenyc.org

What you will need!

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced (or 1 teaspoon of already minced garlic)
  • 1 large white onion
  • 2 tablespoons of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of hot sauce
  • 1 28oz can of crushed tomatoes

Prep:

  1. Mince 2 garlic cloves, if you do not have pre-minced garlic
  2. Chop onions

Instructions:

  1. Add ground beef to a stock pot and turn heat to medium-high
  2. Add in the onions and garlic and cook until the ground beef is browned, stirring frequently
  3. Season with chili powder, oregano, and hot sauce.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes
  5. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low
  6. Simmer for an hour- or longer if you have time
  7. Stir occasionally to prevent burning

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did!! Super easy and super yummy!

Morning Skin Care Routine

Because I am a mother, mornings are hectic and busy for me as soon as my son wakes me up. I don't have enough time to do my skin care as soon as we wake up, so I wait until my son lays down for his nap around 11:30AM.

So let's get to it!

First, after we eat breakfast we brush our teeth together since I am trying to teach him how to brush on his own.

Then, when he goes down for his nap, I head into the bathroom and take a shower, I wash my face with my Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser which will remove any leftover makeup from the night before, and clean my face at the same time. *TIP: RINSE YOUR FACE WITH LUKEWARM WATER*

After I get out of the shower, I dab my face dry with a clean towel. *TIP: IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOT RUB YOUR FACE DRY, ALSO MAKE SURE YOU USE A CLEAN TOWEL TO DRY YOUR FACE EVERYTIME, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ACNE PRONE*

Then, I grab my garnier skin active brightening and smoothing moisturizer. Which by the way, I have been obsessed with since I got it. I use a dime sized amount or less, because a little goes a long way.

After that, I grab my jericho cosmetics eye serum and tap that under my eyes gently, and then bring it up to my eyelids. *TIP: WHEN APPLYING ANY TYPE OF EYE SERUM, IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU TAP THE PROUCT ON GENTLY, NOT RUB. RUBBING THE EYES CAN CAUSE PREMATURE WRINKLES, WHICH YOU ARE TRYING TO PREVENT WITH THE SERUM*

And that's it!
My skin care routine doesn't consist of complicated steps, or tons of product because I dont have skin problems anymore, so I do not feel the need to use more product on my face then I need.
